Your tasks:
As a Professor for Photogrammetric Computer Vision, you strengthen the Institute of Geomatics in a central thematic area of the discipline and consistently develop it further with a focus on modern imaging sensors as well as the data acquisition and analysis based on them. The organisation of the institute is based on collaboration, personal responsibility and active participation. As part of the team, you develop a visible, application-oriented profile in research and teaching. You will specifically shape the following areas:
- Establishment and further development of the "Photogrammetric Computer Vision" department
- Research along the process chain from data acquisition using imaging sensors through 3D reconstruction to the interpretation of spatial data
- Development of robust methods for kinematic and near real-time applications as well as for the integration of image, navigation and other sensor data
- Targeted use of artificial intelligence methods in all steps of the process chain
- Acquisition, management and implementation of third-party funded projects (e.g. Innosuisse, SNF, EU)
- Building and leading your own research group as well as active publication activity
- Designing and conducting courses at bachelor, master and continuing education levels
- Further development of the curriculum and linking research and teaching
- Collaboration with adjacent departments such as Geosensing, Geoinformatics, Spatial Data Science and Geovisualisation
- Participation in the strategic further development of the institute as well as taking on leadership tasks
Your profile:
You are a professionally recognised individual with interest and proven performance in application-oriented research, committed teaching and interdisciplinary collaboration. You combine expertise in photogrammetry and computer vision with a strong practical orientation and the motivation to actively further develop the department in research, teaching and within the institute.
- University degree in Geomatics or a related field, ideally with a doctorate
- Sound knowledge and practical experience in photogrammetry and computer vision, especially in the processing and evaluation of image, LiDAR and other 3D data
- Experience with modern imaging sensor systems and in the integration of image, navigation and geodata
- Proven success in application-oriented research and in the acquisition and implementation of third-party funded projects
- Teaching experience as well as higher education didactic qualification or willingness to acquire it
- Strong national and international network in geomatics (industry, administration and/or research)
- Very good German and English skills for secure communication in teaching, research and collaboration
