The Office for Water and Energy (AWE) is dedicated to safe and intact waters, flood and natural hazard protection, the protection and sustainable use of rivers, streams, lakes, and groundwater, the rational and efficient use of energy, and climate protection.
The Hydrometry Section at AWE is responsible for the quantitative recording of the water cycle and operates a measurement network with over 100 stations on surface waters and groundwater.
We are looking for a
Hydrometry Specialist (m/f/d)
for our team in the Department of Construction and Environment from 1 August or by arrangement
Workload: 50%
Workplace: St. Gallen
What to expect
- Responsibility for managing hydrometry data in the environmental database ensuring high data availability (currently: WISKI, Kisters company)
- Validation and evaluation of data as well as ensuring long-term high data quality
- Independent execution of maintenance and inspection work at measurement stations and coordination of construction and conversion work in cooperation with external partners
- Conducting own flow measurements as well as checking external flow measurements and surveying bases of the measurement stations
- Supporting internal and external bodies with hydrological questions and projects related to the measurement stations
What distinguishes you
- University degree in geography, hydrology, or environmental sciences
- Solid expertise and professional experience in hydrology
- Basic knowledge of the R programming language
- Confidence in using MS Office products and openness to new technologies
- Independent, structured, and solution-oriented working style within a team
- Fieldwork capable and manual skills
- Driving licence category B
