The apprenticeship lasts 3 years and leads to the Federal Certificate of Competence (CFC).

Theoretical and practical training:

The first 3 semesters of your apprenticeship will be full-time at the Intercantonal Professional School of Chemistry (EPIC) in Monthey.

The last 3 semesters will take place in a company at CIMO, under the responsibility of a trainer, with theoretical courses at EPIC one day per week.

After the first 3 semesters at EPIC, where you will have become familiar with the basics of the profession, you will join the CIMO Laboratory Service.

You will discover a variety of analyses, including physico-chemical analyses as well as gas and liquid chromatography analyses, mainly performed on water, soil and air samples.

Your days will be structured by sample preparation, performing analyses and reporting results. You will also discover instrumental analytics, used to identify and quantify micropollutants present in the environment.

To successfully carry out these various tasks, you will use state-of-the-art instruments capable of detecting and analysing compounds at the infinitesimal scale.
