About the job
In the specialised Telecommunication field of the Bern Cantonal Police, you work where security is guaranteed by technology. Through your expertise, you ensure that POLYCOM, mobile communication, and special electronics operate reliably at all times – both daily and in extraordinary situations. Your work makes all the difference for the police as well as for other authorities and rescue and security organisations (AOSS) in the canton of Bern.
Your tasks
- Ensure the smooth operation of the telecommunication networks of the Bern Cantonal Police and the POLYCOM security radio network in the canton of Bern
- Configuration, commissioning, and operation of transmission stations via microwave link, routers/switches, base radio stations, and private branch exchanges
- Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance and servicing work on existing installations
- Training and instructing employees as well as external third parties in the field of communication installations
- Providing on-call services approx. 5 - 6 weeks per year
Your profile
- Basic technical training in electronics or IT with several years of professional experience; further training as a certified technician (ES) is an advantage
- Solid knowledge of telecommunications, microwave transmission systems, transmission protocols and networks, experience in network environments
- Ability to work independently, in a structured and precise manner with great technical and manual skill
- Resilient, flexible, and service-oriented personality, accustomed to working at heights
- Very good oral and written German skills, oral French skills
- Category B driving licence
