Icelandic Teacher
Founded in 1924, the International School of Geneva (Ecolint) welcomes 4,500 students aged 3 to 18 years representing more than 130 nationalities. Our 1,250 staff members from around the world are spread across our three campuses (La Grande Boissière and the Nations Campus in Geneva, La Châtaigneraie in the canton of Vaud).

La Châtaigneraie, located in a magnificent setting overlooking Lake Geneva and the Alps, is a dynamic campus hosting around 1,600 students from primary to secondary levels. Our Modern Languages Programme offers specialised courses designed to promote cultural diversity, interaction with others, and a love of lifelong learning, while supporting and celebrating our diverse student population.

La Châtaigneraie Campus – World Languages Programme (WLP)

Why this role is important
Languages are a powerful tool to develop multilingual thinking, autonomy, and the ability to interact with the world. As an Icelandic teacher for the Modern Languages Programme (WLP), you will be a passionate and dynamic educator, able to inspire students through a variety of creative teaching styles. Your role is to ensure that every student, whether learning Icelandic as a foreign or native language, develops the forward-looking global skills that define Ecolint’s mission: creating together a just and joyful future.
Your role and responsibilities:
- Teach Icelandic as a foreign or native language at all levels of the WLP programme.
- Attend regular department meetings.
- Regularly assess students’ progress, record it, and report to parents.
- Ensure follow-up and progression of the programme for all students.
Profile sought:
You will thrive in this role if you have:
- Strong experience in teaching Icelandic.
- Native or near-native proficiency in Icelandic.
- Previous experience in an international school is highly desirable.
- The ability to work in French and English to communicate effectively within our diverse school community.
- Excellent classroom management, strong organisational skills, and good communication abilities with colleagues and parents.

- Ability to manage resources effectively to support teaching and learning.
- Enthusiastic, passionate, and dynamic spirit with the ability to adapt to a variety of creative teaching styles.
