Chair for Iberoromance and General Literary Studies (75%, open rank)
At the Faculty of Philosophy and History of the University of Basel, a Chair for Iberoromance and General Literary Studies (75%, open rank) is to be filled from 1 August 2027 or by agreement.
Depending on the qualifications of the appointed person, the chair will be filled as a Tenure Track Assistant Professor (TTAP), Associate Professor, or Full Professor.

Your tasks
We are looking for a person who can represent Iberoromance literary studies in teaching and research in its full breadth and who demonstrates an appropriate breadth and theoretical-methodological diversity.
- Applicants whose profile reflects the cross-epochal and cross-national, including postcolonial, relevance of Iberoromance literatures and cultures and accordingly have strong connections to neighbouring disciplines such as history, art history and/or American studies will be given preference.
- Furthermore, connectivity to the field of General Literary Studies (in terms of literary theory and comparatistics) as well as competencies in the area of digitalisation as a methodological approach, research object or editorial practice are expected.
- Participation in the interdisciplinary teaching and research profile of the Department of Language and Literary Studies with its transversal programmes at Bachelor, Master and Doctoral levels is expected.
- In addition to the ability to conduct teaching in the target language at the highest level, willingness to integrate courses in other languages (English, German) into the interphilological teaching offer and to participate appropriately is expected.
Your profile
- Applicants have an excellent doctorate and substantial research experience after the doctorate.
- They possess an excellent research and publication record corresponding to their academic age.
- Experience in teaching and familiarity with digital tools for teaching and research are also expected.
- Applicants have excellent language skills in Spanish.
- Applicants are willing to regularly offer English or German language courses.
- Commitment to supervising doctoral candidates and acquiring third-party funding is expected, as well as teamwork skills and willingness to participate in academic self-administration.
