We are seeking a committed individual as Department Head Society, Culture and Sport, Member of the Executive Board 80 %, starting 1 August 2026 or by agreement.

Sursee is a vibrant city with diverse social, cultural and sporting engagement. As department head, you will decisively shape the framework conditions for this coexistence – strategically, operationally and in collaboration with politics, administration and civil society.

This is what you can achieve:

• You are responsible for a department with high social relevance and actively shape the development of the city of Sursee in the areas of society, culture and sport – you effectively implement the legislative goals and further develop strategic priorities and measures
• As a member of the executive board, you contribute your perspective to the overall development of the city and act as a sparring partner for the responsible member of the city council – you lead the department strategically and operationally and specifically develop offers, structures and framework conditions
• You lead the specialist department heads, manage resources and ensure effective financial and operational controlling
• You initiate and lead cross-departmental projects and shape key thematic areas such as socio-culture, social cohesion, culture, sport and organisational development

This is what you bring:

• Tertiary education (e.g. socio-cultural animation, culture or sports management) or administrative training with corresponding further education
• Several years of leadership experience in a complex organisation, ideally in the public or non-profit sector
• Further training in personnel management, project management
• Sound expertise in at least one of the fields of society, culture or sport
• Strong understanding of political processes and the ability to effectively implement strategy
• Experience in leading projects and managing diverse stakeholders
• Strong communication skills, negotiation confidence, conceptual, economic and implementation-oriented thinking
