About the job
About The Role
ZEEN Tech AG is a Swiss startup revolutionizing the food industry with our next-generation, water-based frying and drying technology, which we export worldwide. As we grow rapidly, we're looking for passionate individuals to join us.
We are looking for several additional Mechanical Engineers to add to our mechanical design team. Whether you are early in your career or a seasoned engineer, you will work hand-in-hand with our Lead Engineer and the rest of the technical team to translate process requirements and thermal challenges into a robust, food-safe machine.
Key Responsibilities
- Machine Design & Execution:Contribute to refining and building out the detailed 3D CAD designs for production, with scope and autonomy matched to your experience.
- Thermal & Structural Engineering:Support and learn to manage the complex mechanical realities of extreme heat, thermal expansion, structural integrity, and high-efficiency insulation concepts.
- Supplier Integration: Work closely with the Lead Engineer to integrate technical specifications and CAD models from external suppliers (e.g., high-temperature centrifugal fans and continuous industrial conveyor belts) into the main machine assembly.
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Help create clean, well-organized CAD assemblies and precise manufacturing drawings, ensuring that parts can be fabricated and assembled accurately the first time and minimizing on-the-fly workshop modifications.
- Hygienic Design: Help ensure the machine structure complies with food industry standards (e.g., EHEDG guidelines), focusing on cleanability, drainage, and food-safe material selection (stainless steel, specialized plastics/seals).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work in collaboration with the Engineers and the assembly team to ensure seamless integration of drives, sensors, airflow systems, and cabling pathways.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Education: BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering or Process Engineering.
- Experience: Some relevant experience designing industrial machinery, process equipment, or thermal machines (ovens, kilns, food-processing lines) – we welcome applications across all levels, from motivated junior engineers to seasoned specialists.
- Core Skills: - Working knowledge of 3D CAD software (SolidWorks), whether gained through studies, an internship, or professional experience.
- A solid foundation in sheet metal design, welding configurations, and mechanical drive systems, with the depth growing with your level of experience.
- Understanding of thermodynamics and fluid routing (steam containment, airflow,…). - Mindset: You are highly structured, detail-oriented, and a true team player. You take pride in precision and clear communication.
- Languages: German and good command of English (or vice versa).
Nice to Have
- Experience with fluid dynamics simulation (CFD) to optimize steam and airflow inside the cooking chamber.
- Specific background in the food processing equipment sector.
