About the job
Student Assistant Digitalisation 40%The State Archive is the archive of the public authorities of the Canton of Zurich and its legal predecessors. By preserving documents from 12 centuries, it makes governmental actions comprehensible and enables historical research in the broadest sense.
To fill a one-year fixed-term position in the Media and Data team in the Records Preservation Department, we are looking for a Student Assistant Digitalisation 40% starting 1 August 2026 or by arrangement.
The Records Preservation Department is responsible for the permanent preservation, safeguarding, and usability of written records from the 9th century and audiovisual media and data from the late 19th century to the present.
Your tasks
Your duties include, among others, producing high-quality reproductions of analogue archival materials, digitally securing historical holdings, material identification, condition assessment of media holdings, and assisting with conservation and cataloguing projects.
You have
- A commenced degree in Conservation, Digital Humanities, Information Sciences, or Photography
- Good expertise in digital photography
- User knowledge of relevant specialised applications as well as Microsoft Excel
- Quick comprehension and willingness to learn new things
- Technical understanding and manual dexterity
- Systematic approach and precise working method
- Great perseverance in repetitive tasks
- Knowledge of Windows PowerShell is not a basic requirement but is advantageous.
