The Stage Technology & Workshops (BTW) of the Department of Performing Arts and Film (DDK) are the central service unit of the department for event technology, specialist infrastructure, video, sound, lighting, stage technology, and workshops.

Event Technician: Focus on Sound and Video, 80% (f,m,d)
Your Responsibilities
Together with a well-coordinated team, you are responsible for the technical advice to the organisers of the DDK and external persons. You support our students and lecturers in the planning, implementation, monitoring, and control of sound, video, and stage technology for module teaching, productions, and guest performances. You assist with the setup and dismantling of sound and video technology and help the stage technology team with the assembly of stage technical equipment and stage sets. As a sound and video specialist, you particularly support the setup of cameras, media servers, projectors, mixing consoles, and microphone systems. Managing live streams, operating video during performances and rehearsals, as well as mixing live camera images, are important additions to this versatile role. You ensure the preparation of video content for productions as well as installation and maintenance work on sound and video technology.
Your Profile
If you have completed an apprenticeship as an event technician or a comparable qualification, you already meet one of the key requirements for this position. We are looking for a person with theatre experience and expertise in programming and controlling sound and video equipment. For collaboration with other stage-related departments, with students, and for direct contact with artistic directors, your independence, high social competence, and empathy are a great advantage. Willingness to work flexible hours including shifts and weekends is essential for this important role in the theatre environment.
Special knowledge:
- Experience with common software and hardware components in the event and theatre sector; we mainly work with QLab and Isadora.
- Knowledge of Dante networks and Yamaha mixing consoles is an advantage
- Good German and English skills, both spoken and written
