Context & Mission
Doctors Without Borders/Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is one of the world's largest medical emergency aid organizations, operating wherever human lives are at risk. Armed conflicts, but also epidemics, pandemics, natural disasters, or exclusion from healthcare are among the reasons for our missions.
The Officer for Middle Donor Relations is responsible for the daily care and expansion of relationships with middle donors.
He/she also actively contributes to the smooth running of various activities in the Public Fundraising department.
Responsibilities
Fundraising & Donor Relations
Identification of particularly relevant contacts within the target segment, creation of an annual action plan.
Analysis and identification of individual donor interests, strengthening donor engagement and retention.
Development of an interaction strategy as a basis for donor contact with the goal of securing funding for the work of Doctors Without Borders Switzerland.
Implementation of activities in donor acquisition, care, and upgrade according to the annual action plan. This includes preparing presentations, donation requests, thank-you letters, and other documents, as well as organizing events and personal meetings. The Officer for Middle Donor Relations regularly reports to the supervisor on measures taken and results.
Updating monitoring tables with qualitative and quantitative data on the donation portfolio.
Validation of daily transactions: identification of donations received on the postal and bank accounts of Doctors Without Borders Switzerland, coding of donations, forwarding information to the responsible department staff, due diligence checks of anonymous/semi-anonymous donations according to the MSF Charter guidelines.
Communication with Middle Donors in German, French, and English. Handling other administrative tasks and follow-up actions in coordination with colleagues.
Entering and updating Middle Donor feedback in the donor database (e.g., updating donor profiles based on qualitative and quantitative data, changes in personal information such as address, phone number, date of birth, email, merging profiles).
Close cooperation with the Philanthropy department (e.g., in event management).
Additional Responsibilities
Responsible for editing communication materials for the Middle Donor team (thank-you letters, event invitations, etc.).
Participation in team meetings and working groups for middle donors within the department.
Active participation in the international working group for medium-sized donors of Doctors Without Borders.
Participation in events and staying informed about the various projects of Médecins Sans Frontières Switzerland.
At the request of the Fundraising Manager or Department Head, the Officer for Middle Donors also takes on other assigned tasks.
Profile
Education
University degree in Business Administration, Marketing/Communication, International Relations, or equivalent
Experience
At least two years of experience in donor/customer care
Proven experience in a position with corresponding responsibility
Excellent knowledge of the local economic environment, good network
Experience in humanitarian work is an advantage
Languages
Required: Swiss German/German and French ("bilingual")
Good English skills
Italian is an advantage

Experience with CRM systems
Excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint).

Permanent contract, 80% (32 hours/week)
Workplace: Zurich or Geneva
Ideal start date: March 16, 2026
Gross annual salary (80%): between CHF 69,897.60 and CHF 80,486.40 (salary according to experience and internal salary scale)
