In the Telecommunications Department of the Bern Cantonal Police, you work where technology enables security. With your expertise, you ensure that POLYCOM, mobile communications, and specialised electronics function reliably at all times – both in everyday situations and in exceptional circumstances. Your work makes a decisive difference for the police and other authorities and organisations for rescue and security (BORS) in the Canton of Bern.
Your tasks
- Ensuring the smooth operation of the telecommunications networks of the Bern Cantonal Police as well as the POLYCOM security radio network in the Canton of Bern
- Configuration, commissioning, and operation of microwave radio devices, routers/switches, radio base stations, and subscriber exchange systems
- Carrying out preventive as well as corrective maintenance and repair work on existing systems
- Training and instructing employees as well as external third parties in the field of communication systems
- Providing on-call service for approximately 5 - 6 weeks per year
Your profile
- Technical basic training in electronics or computer science with several years of professional experience, further training as a HF technician is an advantage
- Sound knowledge in telecommunications, microwave radio systems as well as network and transmission protocols, experience in the network environment
- Independent, structured and precise way of working with pronounced technical and manual skills
- Resilient, flexible and service-oriented personality, accustomed to working at heights
- Very good German language skills in spoken and written form as well as oral French skills
- Driving licence category B
