The Cybersecurity & Applied Cryptography Research Group at the University of St. Gallen is part of the Institute of Computer Science (ICS): https://cybersecurity.unisg.ch/
Established in the autumn semester of 2020, the group is led by Prof. Dr. Katerina Mitrokotsa. Our research focuses on information security and applied cryptography, with the broader goal of securing communications and providing strong privacy guarantees.
Our current research covers several areas, including the design of provably secure cryptographic protocols and primitives for reliable authentication, secure outsourcing of computations in cloud-assisted environments, network security, and secure and privacy-preserving machine learning.

We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student with a strong interest in applied cryptography and information security. The successful candidate will contribute to research across the group's core areas and help advance secure and efficient cryptographic solutions.

- Conduct innovative research in applied cryptography and information security, including secure multi-party computation, privacy-enhancing technologies, and privacy-preserving authentication.
- Contribute to the development of secure and privacy-preserving protocols.
- Support and assist in teaching courses on computer security and cryptography.
- A Master's degree (MSc) or equivalent, with a strong background in cryptography, network security, and mathematics.
- Strong foundations in cryptography and information security; prior research experience in these areas is an advantage.
- Strong programming skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
