The department Search, Rescue and National Disaster Relief (SUREK) is looking for a Project Manager 80-100% - fixed term for three years starting 1 September 2026 or by arrangement.
The Swiss Red Cross is committed to helping people in need – both nationally and internationally. In the Search, Rescue and National Disaster Relief department, we ensure operational readiness by coordinating key activities and continuously developing the necessary skills and structures.
What you can achieve
In this versatile role, you will actively shape the further development of the core business area Search, Rescue and National Disaster Relief and take on central project and coordination tasks:
- Establishment and implementation of Business Continuity Management (BCM)
- Planning and conducting BCM training and awareness measures
- Leading, coordinating, and implementing measures in projects
- Contributing to the development of concepts and strategic foundations
- Ensuring the operational readiness of the SRK for events in Switzerland
- Participation and role in the SRK command staff during extraordinary events
- Close collaboration with Red Cross organisations, partners, and internal departments
- Preparation of decision-making bases and professional documentation
What you bring with you
- University degree (FH/University) related to project management, organisational development, crisis preparedness, risk or security management, or comparable qualification with relevant further training
- Experience in leading projects and coordinating complex undertakings
- Interest in humanitarian work and motivation to effectively apply expertise in crisis preparedness and crisis management
- Structured, independent, and responsible working style
- Conceptual strength and analytical thinking skills
- Organisational talent, initiative, and strong communication and cooperation skills
- Enjoyment in working with volunteer organisations, partners, and various stakeholders
- Excellent German or French skills (C2) and very good knowledge of the other national language (B2) complete your profile
