6 to 9 Month Mission Software Asset Management (SAM) Consultant – Microsoft 365

Context

Synchrotech supports one of its partners in a project to optimise costs and strengthen governance of Microsoft 365 licences. We are looking for a Senior SAM Consultant (minimum 3 years' experience) with proven experience in streamlining and optimising Microsoft 365 licences.

The objective is to identify savings levers, provide concrete recommendations, and define action plans to achieve them.

Your missions

• Analyse the Microsoft 365 licence portfolio, their allocation, actual usage, and associated costs.
• Identify unused, underused, or oversized licences relative to user needs.
• Utilise Software Asset Management (SAM) tools, notably Flexera or equivalent solutions, as well as existing dashboards.
• Assess optimisation possibilities: reallocation, recovery, licence level changes, and subscription rationalisation.
• Provide concrete and quantified recommendations, specifying potential savings, impacts, and any constraints.
• Develop detailed and prioritised action plans, defining measures to be taken, implementation methods, stakeholders, and deadlines.

Your profile

• Proven experience in Software Asset Management (SAM), IT Asset Management (ITAM), or software licence management.
• Essential experience in managing Microsoft 365 licence cost optimisation projects.
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft 365 licence models (E3, E5, etc.), their features, and optimisation possibilities.
• Experience analysing consumption, identifying savings levers, and developing action plans.
• Familiarity with SAM tools, ideally Flexera or an equivalent solution.
• Ability to present well-argued and quantified recommendations to decision-makers.
• Analytical mindset, autonomy, advisory skills, and excellent communication abilities.
