The legal service of the Construction and Environment Department, organisationally integrated into the Office for the Environment, supports the Offices for Environment, Water and Energy, and Civil Engineering in legally compliant enforcement. The legal service deals, in addition to environmental and water protection law, with water use and hydraulic engineering law, road law, as well as electricity supply and energy law.
We are looking for a
Lawyer (m/f/d)
Starting 1 August 2026 or by arrangement
Workload: 80-100%
Workplace: St. Gallen
What to expect
- Processing approval applications for municipal road plans
- Reviewing legal questions of the Civil Engineering Office in public and civil law, especially contract, liability, and property law
- Legal support of projects related to road legislation
- Handling legal questions in the preliminary examination of municipal road plans
- Assuming specialist responsibility for road law if suitable and interested
- Processing objections against cantonal special use plans (landfills, wind turbines, gravel pits, etc.) in all affected legal areas
- In the areas of road law as well as spatial planning and building law:
- Advising municipalities and private individuals
- Participation in appeal procedures
- Advising the Civil Engineering Office and the Office for Spatial Planning and Geoinformation
- Participation in consultations on legislative proposals from the federal and cantonal governments
- Participation in the handling of parliamentary initiatives and collaboration on projects
