Philochem AG is the discovery R&D center of the Philogen Group located in Otelfingen (Zurich, Switzerland). Promising preclinical candidates developed at Philochem are subsequently produced at Philogen’s authorized Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) facilities in Siena (Italy). The Company currently sponsors and coordinates Phase I, II and III prospective clinical trials in Europe and in the United States. Job description
Philochem AG is seeking a highly motivated and cooperative Laboratory Technician to join our R&D group. Your main role will be to carry out various tasks critical for the maintenance of the lab and to support our team of scientists working on internal research projects. In addition to general laboratory responsibilities, you will also be involved in analytical and synthetic tasks requiring hands-on experience with HPLC, LC-MS, organic synthesis, and purification techniques. Hands-on experience with the maintenance and basic troubleshooting of HPLC systems would be highly ideal.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Teaming up with the Head of Research to ensure good work organization.
- Ordering and receiving laboratory supplies.
- Managing inventory and restocking consumables.
- Coordinate equipment maintenance and repair.
- Preparing stock solutions, reagent aliquots, and buffers.
- Performing routine analytical work, including HPLC and LC-MS operation, sample preparation, and data analysis.
- Supporting organic synthesis and purification workflows under the supervision of scientists.
- Performing basic maintenance and troubleshooting of HPLC instruments (ideal).
Minimum requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or an apprenticeship degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical sciences, or related field.
- Experience with basic analytical protein biochemistry.
- Hands-on experience with HPLC, LC-MS, organic synthesis, and purification techniques.
- Experience with HPLC maintenance is a strong plus.
- Fluency in oral and written English. Knowledge of German would be ideal.
