Tasks
Maintain green spaces: As a member of the gardener team, you will work on maintenance in parks, public green spaces, seasonal flower beds, perennial beds, tree care, as well as cemetery grounds including burials.
Foster collaboration: Within the gardener team, you will be involved in tree pruning for street and avenue trees. Periodically, you will take on weekend duties cleaning the parks.
Handle diverse tasks: Carrying out various planting tasks, planting seasonal flower beds, perennial beds, shrub beds, as well as tree planting are also part of your responsibilities.
Profile
Experience: Ideally, you have several years of professional experience in green space maintenance and other gardening activities.
Personality: You enjoy working outdoors in nature, are skilled with your hands, reliable and flexible, and take pleasure in working with people, plants, and machinery.
Training: You have completed training as a landscape gardener, are trained in the use of construction machinery, and hold a category B driving licence.
Language: With your good German skills in spoken and written form, you can communicate easily with the public.

The City Gardening department, affiliated with the Construction and Transport Department, is responsible for the green lungs in the densely populated area of Basel-Stadt. It maintains around 240 hectares of green and open spaces in over 50 parks and green areas, recreational garden areas, and several cemeteries, and regularly renovates 60 playgrounds. In its work, it is committed to rich biodiversity in the urban area and a unique cultural heritage. For 160 years, the dedication of City Gardening has served Basel's urban greenery and thus the public.
