Extras for the production «ARE YOU READY TO DIE?»

The Schauspielhaus Zurich is looking for extras who enjoy slow motion and movement work for the staging of ARE YOU READY TO DIE? directed by Marie Schleef (premiere: September 19, 2025):

• a young woman* or female-identifying person, aged 17-24 (no speaking role, no choir)
• an older man* or male-identifying person, with a larger body type, aged 60-68 (no speaking role, no choir)
• Child extras with energy and joy in movement: a girl* or female-identifying child, BLACK, aged 5-7 (no speaking role, no choir)

This is a typecasting - the respective role types are essential for the storytelling of the piece.

Choir extras FINTA* for the production «HOLSTEIN MILK COWS» wanted

The Schauspielhaus Zurich is looking for nine singing-enthusiastic women* (FINTA*) of different ages who want to become part of the choir for the theater piece HOLSTEIN MILK COWS. The choir singing will be a maximum of three-part and the singing language is German.

June 6, 2025

SELECTION WORKSHOP 1:

June 15 & 16, 2025, first round (Rehearsal stage 1 at Schiffbau, Giessereistrasse 5, 8005 Zurich). The exact time will be provided with the invitation. In the selection workshop, you will have the opportunity to get to know the musician and composer Zooey Agro and her working method in small groups.

SELECTION WORKSHOP 2:

A second round with director Satoko Ichihara is planned for June 17, 2025.

REHEARSAL PERIOD:

August 25 to October 18, 2025. You should definitely be available full-time for rehearsals.

PREMIERE:

October 18, 2025, Pfauen, Schauspielhaus Zurich

You will receive a response regarding whether and when we will invite you to the selection workshop. If invited, you will also receive audio sequences to prepare for the selection workshop.

About the piece HOLSTEIN MILK COWS

A seemingly ordinary Japanese housewife, her lap dog, a human-cow hybrid born through artificial insemination, and a choir of the souls of dairy cows joyfully and provocatively cross moral boundaries, with which humans elevate their behavior, sexuality, and physiology above that of animals. Awarded the most important prize for playwrights in Japan, director Satoko Ichihara has created an extraordinary contemporary music theater. The script is currently being translated from Japanese into German. The musician and composer Zooey Agro is composing the music for this production and is writing seven choral pieces for the choir of the souls of dairy cows.
