The Finance Department of the City of Zurich manages, as a cross-sectional organisation, the areas of finance, human resources management, IT, real estate, taxes, and housing promotion. The financial administration is responsible for central financial and control tasks and provides essential foundations for political decisions. As part of a succession arrangement, we are seeking a convincing personality for spring 2027 as
Director of Financial Administration, 80 – 100 %
In this responsible role, you will lead and further develop the service department with around 50 employees professionally, economically, and digitally. You bear overall responsibility for financial and task planning, budgeting, annual accounts, and financial controlling, ensuring sustainable financial planning. For the City Council, Municipal Council, and other political bodies, you will prepare strategic decision-making bases and help shape the city’s financial policy. Additionally, you will lead the executive management and represent the financial administration to internal and external stakeholders.
For this demanding leadership role, you have a university degree in business administration or economics, complemented by further training in leadership and management as well as public finance. You bring extensive financial and strategic competencies along with several years of leadership experience. Analytical and conceptual thinking, a solid understanding of political processes, and experience in working with political authorities distinguish you. You communicate convincingly, present yourself confidently, and know how to win over different stakeholders for common goals.
