About the job
University Clinic for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy
from 1 January 2027 or by arrangement
The outpatient crisis intervention (AKI) is affiliated with various outpatient clinics of the University Clinic for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychotherapy (KJP) of the University Psychiatric Centre Bern (UPZ). For our services at the Bern and Burgdorf locations, we are looking for a committed assistant psychologist. Our interdisciplinary teams support children and adolescents in psychological crises with intensive, time-limited treatment in an outpatient outreach setting. The service can precede further treatment in outpatient, day clinic, or inpatient settings. The aim is to improve the predicted treatment outcome, shorten treatment durations, and bridge possible waiting times until the start of further treatment. As an assistant psychologist, you will have the opportunity to accompany children and adolescents and their families during phases of crisis escalation, help shape individual treatment processes, and further develop your clinical skills in crisis intervention. You will work closely with our nursing and educational team: while you conduct outpatient psychological appointments, outreach contacts by staff from the nursing and educational team complement the treatment in the patients' living environment. You will become familiar with various mental health disorders and participate in diagnostic assessment and psychotherapeutic treatment. In doing so, you actively contribute your psychological expertise and work closely with professionals from various disciplines as well as with internal and external cooperation partners. As a university clinic, we combine clinical practice, teaching, and research. Clinicians and scientists work closely together to ensure evidence-based and high-quality treatment for our patients. Would you like to support children and adolescents in psychological crises, develop sustainable perspectives together with an interdisciplinary team, and deepen your therapeutic skills in a dynamic clinical environment? Are you interested in intensive, closely coordinated treatment tailored to the individual needs of the patients? Then become part of our team!
Your tasks
- You work in an interdisciplinary treatment team and actively contribute your psychological expertise to the treatment

- You maintain collaboration with external institutions such as child and adult protection authorities (KESB), residential homes, schools, and other specialised agencies
- You recruit patients for scientific studies and gain insight into clinical-scientific questions
- You participate in internal and external further training, such as lectures, conferences, seminars, courses, and training sessions, as well as specialised supervisions
Your profile
- You have a master’s degree in psychology and are undergoing recognised psychotherapy training
- You bring practical experience in the clinical psychological field; experience in outpatient psychotherapy is an advantage
- You are interested in working with children, adolescents, and their families and enjoy a varied clinical activity
- Evidence-based work is important to you, and you are interested in combining clinical work with scientific questions
- You work independently, responsibly, and reflectively, while appreciating close collaboration in an interdisciplinary team
- You are flexible and open to different clinical areas and actively contribute to the further development of your professional skills
- You have very good German language skills, both spoken and written
