As part of the Education Directorate of the Canton of Zurich, the Office for Youth and Career Counselling is responsible for the services of child and youth welfare as well as career counselling. Children, young people and families are at the centre of our work. We dedicate ourselves to them daily with great passion and commitment.
Would you like to support the Foster Families Department immediately or by arrangement as a Scientific Employee in the authority team? The position comprises an 80% workload and is limited until 31.12.2030.
Together with two other employees, you will be responsible for the approval and overall supervision of foster care arrangements based on the Child and Youth Home Act. You will examine approval applications, conduct investigations in cooperation with involved agencies such as KESB, Child and Youth Welfare Centres (kjz) or the Migration Office, and hear foster parents as well as foster children regarding the approval requirements. Based on this, you will decide on the granting of approvals. In addition, you will contribute to the development of conceptual foundations and projects and support the department management in networking, stakeholder management and professional exchange with various interest groups.
You bring:
- A university degree in Social Work, a social science field or law
- Several years of professional experience in child protection work and dealing with challenging family situations as well as solid experience with official procedures
- Preferably knowledge in the field of foster care
- A confident, assertive personality with a secure demeanour
- Great interest and a high social commitment to the concerns of children, young people and their families
- Strong conceptual and analytical skills and high social competence
- Fluent German in spoken and written form, combined with the ability to present complex matters precisely and comprehensibly in approval decisions
- Affinity for IT-related questions and the use of specialised applications
- An exact and structured way of working
