Presentation
The Data Stewardship Biomed Unit (DSBU) at the Faculty of Biology and Medicine (FBM) at UNIL is looking for a specialist in biomedical data management to complete its team. Thanks to its close collaboration with the Vaud University Hospital Center (CHUV), the FBM plays a leading role not only in fundamental biology research but also in the biomedical and clinical fields. The mission of the Data Stewardship unit is to equip, train, and advise FBM UNIL and CHUV researchers on the skills, tools, and processes necessary to produce and manage data and metadata in accordance with FAIR principles, with a view to sharing and preservation.

Your Activities
As a Data Steward, you will assist FBM-UNIL and CHUV researchers in adopting best practices for managing and documenting research data. You will be involved at every stage of the data lifecycle, ensuring their structuring, preservation, and sharing, while ensuring their interoperability and compliance with FAIR and Open Research Data (ORD) standards. You will also play a key role in deploying Data Stewardship tools and training researchers from FBM, UNIL, and CHUV.
Your main tasks will focus on the needs of researchers in the clinical sciences section of the FBM (mainly at CHUV), and will include:
• Developing tools and automating processes to ensure the consistency and interoperability of research data and metadata at scale
• Developing applications and databases to interface and integrate various data management tools in the IT environments of CHUV, FBM, UNIL, and external
• Providing personalized support to CHUV-FBM researchers to harmonize the management, sharing, and preservation of (meta)data according to FAIR and Open Science standards
• Participating in internal CHUV-FBM collaborations, as well as at the Swiss level, on the management of FAIR and Open Science research data
Your Profile
This position is aimed at a person with the following skills:
• A PhD in life sciences or medicine and sciences
• Experience in biomedical or clinical research and advanced data management practice of 4 years
• Strong knowledge of Python, UNIX, bash, git
• Proven skills in several web development languages, databases, and APIs
• Good command of written and spoken English and French
• A strong sense of organization and respect for deadlines
• Autonomy and a sense of service
