About the job
The canton of Glarus consists of densely populated valley floors and extensive mountainous areas. Environmental burdens such as noise, air pollutants, land consumption, etc., are concentrated in the valley area. The canton of Glarus values sustainable development and a careful approach to natural resources. The Department of Environmental Protection and Energy deals with all topics related to environmental protection.
For the Department of Environmental Protection and Energy, we are looking for a
Environmental Protection Specialist (Air, Noise, NIS) 80–100 %
starting 1 July 2026 or by arrangement, based in Glarus.
Tasks
- Enforcement of tasks according to federal and cantonal environmental protection legislation (air quality control, noise protection, light and NIS)
- Management and implementation of projects
- Review of building applications in your areas of expertise
- Consultation of municipalities, companies and private individuals
- Collaboration in interdisciplinary working groups and selected committees
- Support in the strategic and conceptual further development of your areas of expertise
- Participation in the environmental on-call service
Requirements
- University or university of applied sciences degree in environmental science, engineering or a related field
- Experience in environmental, air quality control, noise and administrative law is an advantage
- Experience in managing and implementing projects
- Negotiation skills, independent working style, assertiveness
- Good oral and written communication skills
- Category B driving licence (for on-call service)
