Chapter Lead - Forward-Deployed Engineering

You will join Pictet as the first Chapter Lead of the Forward-Deployed Engineering (FDE) Chapter, a new unit created to embed hands-on AI and generative AI (GenAI) engineering expertise directly within business and product teams. You will shape how the Chapter operates: there is no existing playbook to inherit and no predecessor to follow.

You will report to the Head of Group Technology Strategy and Innovation and work closely with the AI Centre of Excellence (AI CoE), which develops the reusable AI platforms, agent blueprints and GenAI capabilities that support the Group. While AI CoE teams build capabilities for use across the Group, your Chapter will embed engineers within the business, one assignment at a time.

Your role

• Building and leading the FDE Chapter
  Establish and develop the Forward-Deployed Engineering (FDE) Chapter, while defining common standards and ways of working across different engagement models. This will include setting expectations for assignment scoping, discovery, technical delivery, production readiness and escalation. Lead the onboarding, mentoring and professional development of FDEs, creating a consistent framework across all assignments.


• Managing FDE allocation and engagements
  Work with business-line leaders to identify and prioritise FDE engagements based on business needs, strategic relevance and available expertise. Define the scope and expected outcomes of each engagement, monitor progress and ensure that evolving requirements are managed appropriately. Determine when assignments have been completed and when FDE resources should be reassigned to new priorities.


• Providing technical and delivery leadership
  Remain closely involved in key FDE engagements and provide hands-on support when required. Apply your technical expertise to review architectural decisions, challenge technical approaches and help resolve complex delivery issues. Engage directly with senior stakeholders when additional alignment or intervention is required.


• Developing and scaling the Chapter
  Build and develop the FDE talent pool through recruitment, skills development and career management. Establish strong relationships across the business lines and position the Chapter as a recognised centre of expertise in Forward-Deployed Engineering. Represent the Chapter to senior stakeholders, working closely with the AI Centre of Excellence.

Your profile

• Several years’ experience leading engineering teams, ideally within distributed, embedded or matrix-based operating models.


• Extensive hands-on experience in AI and generative AI, combined with a strong engineering background and the ability to provide credible technical leadership.


• Strong knowledge of LLM orchestration, agent frameworks and production-grade Python, with the ability to assess technical quality and identify delivery risks.


• Proven ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders in business areas such as wealth management, asset management, risk and compliance.


• Experience of working in evolving environments and establishing new structures, standards and ways of working.


• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to combine people management, technical oversight and stakeholder engagement.


• Fluent in both French and English.


• Resident in Switzerland or willing and able to relocate.
