Department Head and Member of the Extended School Management 80 - 100%The Vocational School Uster – Business and Technology (BFSU) is the competence centre for training and further education in the professional fields of business, automation, electronics and computer science. It is actively involved in the implementation of the megatrend digitalisation. Around 1500 learners complete their vocational training or obtain the vocational baccalaureate here. Together with the partner schools in the Uster Education Centre, BFSU offers a diverse further education programme. Approximately 200 teachers and lecturers teach in basic and further education.
Your tasks
- Management of a department: Leading the Vocational Training Technology Department (Automation, Electronics, Platform Development). Ensuring the operational school business while adhering to quality management; acting flexibly.
- Strategic development: Supporting the overall school management and the school commission in the strategic orientation of the school.
- Accompanying change processes: Careful and goal-oriented implementation of changes involving teachers and staff.
- Development of teachers: Significant further development and individual promotion of the department as well as participation in personnel planning.
- Collaboration with other departments: Close cooperation, coordination and exchange support.
- Maintaining contacts: Close exchange with external bodies; promoting cooperation between learning locations.
- Teaching activity: Bringing enthusiasm for teaching and learning into the classroom. Teaching obligation: 10 weekly lessons.
Your profile
- Completed degree or equivalent qualification
- Completed teaching diploma with additional training in vocational pedagogy for teaching at secondary level II
- Additional training in school leadership, educational management or a comparable qualification is an advantage
- Leadership and management experience in the education sector, ideally at a vocational school
- Sound knowledge of the Swiss vocational education system
- High social competence and communication skills
- Strategic thinking combined with implementation and decision-making ability
- Experience in school development and modern leadership
- Very good German language skills, spoken and written
- High degree of initiative and openness to change
- Technological affinity combined with digital competence and a strong willingness to learn
