About the job
Senior SAP Developer: Procurement (m/f/d)
To support research and teaching, the IT Services of ETH Zurich operate as a service organisation within a large and complex IT environment. We offer the members of ETH Zurich high-quality, flexible, and scalable IT services, thereby supporting them in competing with the best universities worldwide.
In the SAP Development group, we develop and operate applications in the SAP back- and frontend together with the SAP Competence Center. The spectrum ranges from backend solutions for specialised user groups to web applications used across ETH. We also integrate both internal and external ETH applications and partners via integration platforms such as SAP Integration Suite and SAP PI.
To strengthen our team, we are looking for an experienced and committed individual as a Senior SAP Developer: Procurement (MM) immediately or by arrangement.
Job Description
In this role, you will take technical responsibility for SAP solutions in the area of Material Management (MM), procurement, and adjacent logistics processes. You will manage complex requirements from professional clarification through solution architecture and effort estimation to implementation, introduction, and sustainable support. You will make technical decisions within the applicable architecture and governance guidelines, ensuring security, maintainability, performance, and operational stability.
You will develop sophisticated applications and extensions in the SAP back- and frontend using ABAP and object-oriented ABAP as well as modern technologies such as CDS Views, OData, Fiori, SAPUI5, and RAP. As a technical contact person, you will assess solution variants, define target images and development standards, and ensure that new solutions consider the principles of S/4HANA and Clean Core.
In ongoing operations, you will take responsibility for maintenance, error analysis, performance optimisation, and 3rd-level support. You will document the developed solutions, contribute to the definition and further development of development standards, and ensure sustainable solution quality through reviews, tests, and knowledge transfer.
You will advise business units and the SAP Competence Center on an equal footing, recognise dependencies with SD, FI/CO, HCM, and integration solutions, and develop cross-departmental solution approaches. Through active knowledge transfer, coaching, and professional support, you will strengthen the development team and reduce dependencies on individual persons or external partners.
Profile
For this broad and varied area of responsibility, you bring a high degree of independence and judgement, a solution-oriented working style, as well as a university or university of applied sciences degree in computer science, business informatics, or a comparable qualification. Additionally:
- At least 5 years of practical experience in SAP development, especially with ABAP and object-oriented ABAP.
- Deep understanding of development and business processes in the SAP MM module as well as experience in the digital support of procurement and logistics processes.
- Routine in the entire development cycle from analysis and conception to introduction and further development of solutions.
- Experience with SAP WebDynpro ABAP and modern SAP technologies such as CDS Views, OData, Fiori Elements, and RAP.
- Additional knowledge in SD or FI/CO as well as contact with SAP S/4HANA is a plus.
- Experience with PunchOut integrations based on OCI and cXML is advantageous.
- Know-how in connecting systems via IDoc, web services, REST APIs, or comparable interfaces.
- Structured, solution-oriented working style and the ability to implement even complex requirements clearly and pragmatically.
- Team spirit, personal responsibility, and willingness to actively contribute and share knowledge.
- Very good German and good English skills for professional collaboration in a diverse environment.
Are you flexible, open, and a team player, show initiative and an efficient working method, and enjoy helping shape central SAP solutions at ETH Zurich? Then we would like to get to know you.
