The Department of Health, with its four offices and five services as well as around 200 employees, is responsible for the protection, promotion, and preservation of the health of humans and animals. This includes ensuring high-quality medical care, health prevention, consumer protection, and veterinary services.
The Office for Health Care is responsible for ensuring adequate hospital care for the population of St. Gallen, hospital financing, the approval and determination of tariffs, as well as premium reductions.
