We are looking for a committed and professionally skilled individual for the period from 1 September 2026 to 31 August 2027 as
Social Worker in Social Counselling (60%)
Social counselling is part of the Migration department and a low-threshold contact and triage point for people throughout the canton of Zurich. It subsidiarily complements existing services and works closely with authorities and specialist agencies. The aim is to empower people in challenging life situations and to develop viable perspectives together.
In your role, you advise those seeking help on complex social issues and develop sustainable solutions together with them. You operate in a demanding environment that requires professional competence, personal responsibility and the ability to reflect.
This fixed-term position is a maternity cover until 31 August 2027. The assignments take place on fixed working days, namely Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Your impact with us
- You advise people in difficult life situations on topics such as finances, housing, work, health, family, residence and social insurance
- Together with those seeking advice, you develop sustainable solutions and strengthen their independence
- You specifically refer to appropriate specialist agencies and support orientation within the assistance system
- You independently manage structured case management including documentation and application submission
- You actively contribute in close cooperation with internal and external partner organisations
What convinces us about you
- Tertiary degree in Social Work (FH/University) or an equivalent qualification
- Several years of experience in counselling, ideally in a transcultural context
- Knowledge of social assistance, social insurance as well as migration and residence law
- Confident German language skills as well as good foreign language skills (English/French; additional languages in the asylum field are an advantage)
- Proficiency in using digital work tools (Office 365, case management systems)
- A reflective, responsible and impartial working style as well as a confident appearance
- Strong communication skills and negotiation ability in dealing with different stakeholders
- An independent, pragmatic working style – also in complex counselling situations
- A professional and reflective approach to closeness and distance in counselling work
What we offer you
Fruit basket, modern working environment and 6 weeks’ holiday? That has long been standard with us! In addition to generous employment conditions, we also impress with internal training formats, joint activities and wonderful colleagues in a dynamic team. Above all, you pursue a meaningful task with direct human and societal impact.
