Your tasks

• Analysis and step-by-step redevelopment of existing COBOL programs in Java considering modern architectural principles
• Execution of small developments as well as continuous further development of existing applications
• Development and implementation of customer-specific customizations and extensions
• Application of Secure Development Practices (e.g., OWASP, Code Reviews, Threat Modeling) to ensure secure and robust software solutions
• Building, maintaining, and further developing automated tests (unit, integration, and end-to-end tests) to ensure software quality
• Creation and maintenance of technical documentation for developed solutions and processes

Your profile

• Completed studies with a focus on computer science or comparable qualification
• Several years of experience in a comparable position focusing on software development and system migration in the banking environment
• Very good knowledge of Java as well as experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
• Solid experience with database queries (e.g., SQL)
• Knowledge of COBOL, RPG, and CL is an advantage
• Very good German or English skills (level C1/C2)

Your first six months with us

We are rebuilding our infrastructure for the core banking system. Together with your colleagues, you will analyze existing in-house developments – mostly in COBOL – and understand their logic. You will rewrite these natively in Java for the target system. You will be supported by external experts and document your solutions appropriately for the target audience.
