The Federal Institute of Metrology METAS is the reference institute for measurements and measuring instruments in Switzerland. To ensure that a litre is always a litre (e.g. when refuelling), METAS carries out calibrations, conformity assessments and consultations for business, research and administration. Measurement accuracy creates trust, especially at societal and political levels, and is essential in many areas: road traffic, electricity billing, time transmission, measurements in environmental and health sectors, etc. At METAS, various disciplines come together and complement each other – and this has been the case since 1862.

Your new challenge

• Operation, maintenance and further development of the server infrastructure in the internal data centre with a focus on Microsoft technologies, VMware and partly Linux
• Planning, design and implementation of IT infrastructure solutions in a hybrid system landscape
• Operation and further development of the technical infrastructure of the Data Lakes in close cooperation with the Data Science team
• Support and further development of central infrastructure topics such as Active Directory, Access Management, IT Security, Backup and Life Cycle Management
• Planning and execution of selective migration of infrastructure, services and applications to the cloud, taking into account IT security requirements

Your profile

• Completed training as an IT specialist EFZ with further education HF/FH or a comparable qualification
• Several years of experience in the operation and further development of IT infrastructures, ideally in complex or hybrid system landscapes
• Sound knowledge of the Microsoft environment as well as experience with on-premise, hybrid and cloud infrastructures
• Experience in planning, designing and implementing IT infrastructure solutions as well as knowledge in areas such as Active Directory, Access Management, IT Security and Backup
• Team-oriented and independent working style, initiative and openness to technological changes as well as willingness to be on call at weekends in rotation with the other specialists of the team. Confident communication in one official language (German or French) complemented by good knowledge of a second official language and English complete your profile.
