The position is attached to the Department of Clinical Neurosciences . This department provides care to patients of all ages, children and adults, suffering from neurosurgical, neurological, ophthalmological and otorhinolaryngological pathologies. Care is adapted to the needs and difficulties of the patient, from the most acute sectors (intermediate care units) to rehabilitation sectors (neurorehabilitation).

The department's objective is to guide patients towards regaining their autonomy through education, support and outpatient follow-up. It ensures both the operation of patients and their support, to promote an early return home. In the same spirit, outpatient care is also prioritised and surgical activity optimised to facilitate access to care within a reasonable timeframe.

The Ophthalmology Service of the HUG has, since its creation in 1878, been the leading ophthalmology centre in the canton of Geneva in terms of diagnosis, treatment of eye diseases and research. It relies on the most modern diagnostic methods, the most innovative techniques and minimally invasive surgical intervention methods. Its core values are those of a university service.

Job Description

You will work at the heart of a multidisciplinary team in a university environment at the forefront of technological innovations.

Within the Ophthalmology Service, you will ensure a varied activity composed of various technical imaging and functional exploration examinations to provide quality care for patients (OCT, angiographies, retinographies, biometry, ultrasounds, visual fields, visual acuity measurement, refraction…).

You guarantee the technical quality of the examinations and compliance with procedures.

Constantly monitoring technological developments, you carry out the fine-tuning of techniques and procedures, participate in research as well as in testing new equipment.

You take part, as needed, in teaching, development and research activities while cooperating closely with all the unit and hospital staff.

Qualifications

You hold a Swiss diploma as an orthoptist/optometrist/optician or a recognised EU diploma or a recognised professional training in Switzerland corresponding to the required profile.

Having extended training in ophthalmological technical examinations is an asset.

A practice licence for the canton of Geneva is essential.

Previous professional experience in performing ophthalmological technical examinations, acquired in a hospital, clinic or practice setting, is required.

Expertise in performing visual field tests is an advantage. Depending on the profile, an activity mainly dedicated to this speciality may be considered.

You are comfortable using common computer tools.

You have a perfect command of the French language.

You possess good organisational skills and demonstrate professional rigour.

You show empathy and respect towards patients as well as your colleagues thanks to your well-developed team spirit.

You have a high resistance to stress and can adapt according to the situation.
