About the job
Your team
Pictet Alternative Advisors (PAA) is a leading alternative investment specialist with expertise in hedge funds, private equity, global real estate and private debt. The Geneva-and London-based team constructs, manages and advises on portfolios of alternative investment solutions for institutional and private clients.
Pictet has high growth ambitions for Pictet Alternative Advisors for the coming years, notably to expand its product offering to include additional asset classes and to further develop its institutional client base. In view of these developments, PAA is looking to grow its multi-manager hedge funds team and is looking for highly motivated and talented individuals to join.
PAA’s Multi Manager Hedge Funds franchise is composed of 13 professionals split across fund analysis and client solutions. The franchise counts USD 8bn AUMs and covers the following strategies: Event Driven, Long Short equities, Global Macro and Relative Value, across all geographies. Within the multi-manager Hedge Funds team also sits a recently developed third party multi manager private debt offering, which invests across performing growth direct lending, specialty finance, special situations and stressed and distressed.
Your role
Based in our Geneva office, you will join an experienced, collaborative investment team covering a broad range of hedge fund strategies. From day one, you will work closely with senior analysts and portfolio managers, build conviction through rigorous research, and contribute to investment decisions that matter for our clients. More precisely, your role will be to:
- Support research, due diligence and ongoing monitoring of fund investments, working across investment, operational and client-facing topics;
- Conduct screening and research across a range of hedge fund strategies and, over time, build and develop your own sourcing network;
- Support portfolio management, investment monitoring and client reporting, with attention to quality, consistency and deadlines;
- Contribute to investment due diligence reports, monitoring notes and other memorandums, combining strong qualitative judgement with quantitative analysis, in partnership with senior team members;
- Participate in the decision-making process within a lean team where your voice and preparation are valued;
- Build peer group analyses and expand the pipeline of monitored managers across strategies;
- Maintain internal databases and documentation, ensuring information is accurate, current and easy to use for the team;
- Contribute to ESG assessment and scoring of underlying managers as part of our investment process.
Your profile
- University degree in a relevant field; CFA and/or another quantitative certification is a strong advantage.
- 3–7 years’ experience in hedge fund manager selection (or closely related buy-side research), with good quantitative skills, ideally within an institutional investor, fund of hedge funds, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical and structured thinking, paired with clear communication and the ability to build effective working relationships.
- Genuine interest in financial markets and curiosity to keep learning.
- Proactive and solutions-oriented, comfortable working independently while thriving in a team environment with open dialogue.
- Interest in technology (e.g., AI) and programming; you enjoy using tools and data to improve how we work.
- Excellent command of English; additional European languages are a plus.
- You are based in Switzerland or are willing to relocate.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to join a long-standing team of hedge fund professionals and gain exposure to leading managers and sophisticated private and institutional clients, within one of the world’s leading private financial institutions. We are looking for someone who combines strong professional foundations with curiosity, energy and sound judgement, and who works with integrity and respect for others. With a flat hierarchy and a collaborative culture, success comes from teamwork, open information sharing and constructive debates so you can learn quickly, contribute meaningfully and grow over time.
If you are excited about the role but do not meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply. We value diverse perspectives and are committed to providing a supportive environment where people can grow.
