Tasks
Find GIS solutions for urban planning & architecture: Spatial data form the basis for spatial planning, urban development and architectural projects. With GIS analyses, 3D visualisations and geodata management, you support the project managers in our department as the GIS competence centre.
Further develop GIS strategy: The canton has a variety of high-quality 2D and 3D geodata, whose applications in urban planning and architecture are diverse. Together with the project managers, you develop innovative ideas and unlock new potentials.
Manage GIS processes: You analyse and optimise existing processes in the development and implementation of GIS projects. In doing so, you work closely with the project managers as well as with the cantonal GIS specialist unit.
Profile
Experience: You have experience handling geodata and GIS models and are familiar with common GIS programmes (FME, QGIS). You have an interest in spatial planning, urban development and architecture.
Personality: You work in a structured and efficient manner, embrace technical innovations and seek innovative solutions. You communicate fluently with professionals from various disciplines. You are interested in the development of the Canton of Basel-Stadt.
Education: You hold a degree in Geoinformatics, Geomatics (Uni/ETH/FH) or an equivalent education/training in Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Language: We work cross-border with our neighbours in Germany and France. Therefore, knowledge of French is an advantage.

Urban Planning & Architecture (U&A) of the Department of Construction and Transport steers spatial and architectural developments of cantonal buildings, public spaces and districts up to the trinational agglomeration. Projects are balanced with regard to their overall impact on public and private interests. Usability, design quality, appropriate density, preservation and further development of the historical heritage and an adequate approach to climate change are criteria for providing a high quality of life and stay.
