Career Changer as Construction Manager in District 3
Department of Civil Engineering | 80-100 % | Samedan
The Department of Civil Engineering is responsible for the planning, construction, maintenance and operation of the cantonal roads as well as water engineering and slow traffic in Graubünden. In addition, we take care of the operational maintenance of the national roads within the canton. The canton’s road infrastructure includes over 1,450 civil engineering structures, including bridges at dizzying heights of up to 90 metres and tunnels up to 3 kilometres long. The challenges posed by the nature of our mountainous canton in summer and winter make our work demanding and varied. We are looking for a career changer as a construction manager for the Road Maintenance Department in District 3 Samedan from 1 November 2026 or by arrangement.
- Assisting in the management and supervision of assigned construction sites as client representative
- Scheduling and coordinating the work
- Ensuring quality, quantity and execution of the entire contract work
- Preparing cost estimates, tender documents and invoices
- Monitoring the budget
- Carrying out technical tasks for road maintenance
- Providing on-call service as operations manager
- Completed vocational training in the construction trade
- Several years of professional experience, ideally in civil engineering
- Willingness as a career changer to complete the necessary further training to perform construction management tasks
- Willingness to learn and assertiveness
- Personality with high social competence, organisational and negotiation skills as well as ability to work in a team
- General working language is German; good knowledge of several cantonal languages is an advantage
