About the job

Metal construction practitioners specialising in forging technology learn to handle various metals with regard to their shaping. Using large presses and forging hammers, they shape glowing metals into blanks, which, after mechanical processing, are used in machine, aircraft, rail, and vehicle construction as well as in medical technology and the chemical industry.

Your activities and areas of responsibility:

• Reading, understanding, and applying technical documents and tool drawings
• Determining work steps and selecting suitable tools and working methods
• Organising the workplace and setting up forging machines
• Performing hand forging work at the anvil
• Operating forging machines
• Monitoring the forging process
• Conducting quality controls
• Assessing work results
• Creating technical documents

Requirements:

• Teamwork skills
• Manual dexterity
• Technical understanding
• Spatial imagination

Good to know:

• Duration of apprenticeship: 2 years
• Vocational school: 1 day per week
