Bring your expertise in solar energy to Namibia and support a new vocational training centre in establishing solar technology production.
The Nkurenkuru Vocational Training Centre (NKVTC) is a new public vocational training centre recognised by the Namibia Training Authority (NTA) and overseen by the Ministry of Education, Innovation, Youth, Sport, Arts and Culture (MEIYSAC). It is located in the Kavango West region in northern Namibia and was founded in 2025.
The Ministry of Education has been a partner of Comundo for many years and is committed to high-quality and inclusive education for all children and young people in Namibia.
The Comundo country programme Namibia makes an important contribution to better education for children and young people. To this end, we work with the Ministry of Education, regional education directorates, various vocational training centres (VTCs) and NGOs.
Your activities / tasks
You support the NKVTC in establishing a production unit for solar systems and strengthen competencies in the field of solar energy as well as in didactics (learner-centred teaching, practical learning and practice). In doing so, you contribute to higher educational quality and better professional prospects for young people in the Kavango West region.
Specifically, you take on the following tasks:
- Establishing and coordinating a solar energy and production centre together with technical trainers and management
- Strengthening the practical skills of trainers and learners according to current industry standards, especially in the areas of planning, installation and production of solar systems
- Professional advice and knowledge transfer for trainers and management of the NKVTC
- Further development of the pedagogical skills of trainers, especially regarding learner-centred approaches, classroom management, practical exercises and curriculum implementation
- Promoting cooperation with private and public companies to enable job shadowing, internships and other forms of practical work experience
Your profile
- Training as a solar technician or electrician
- Experience in vocational education in the field of renewable energies
- Practical experience in solar energy, especially with photovoltaic systems (PV), system planning, installation, energy production and intelligent electronic control systems
- Knowledge of current technologies in the field of renewable energies, including photovoltaics, energy storage and system integration
- Experience in setting up and operating a small production or workshop unit in the solar sector
- Experience in planning photovoltaic systems is an advantage
- Strong networking skills and knowledge transfer
- Good computer skills
