Head of Technical Property Maintenance (80%)

Basel | Technical portfolio responsibility from the owner’s perspective.

For a property company with a growing portfolio in the Basel area, we are seeking an experienced individual to take responsibility for the technical maintenance of the company’s own properties from the owner’s perspective.

The focus is on safe and economical operation, consistent management of external partners, and the establishment of practical structures for maintenance, inspections, and technical documentation. You will assume a newly created role with a high degree of independence and direct impact on operational safety, quality, and long-term value preservation.

Your Role

You assess technical matters, set priorities, and ensure that necessary measures are planned, implemented, and consistently followed up.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Responsibility for the technical maintenance of the company’s own properties and the reliable operation of building infrastructure and systems
• Planning, organising, and supervising maintenance, repairs, and upkeep work
• Technical management of external property administrations, caretaking, tradespeople, and specialist companies
• Review of services, offers, and technical solutions as well as consistent follow-up on agreed measures
• Planning and support of renovation, conversion, and renewal projects
• Technical support of construction projects and follow-up of warranty work
• Ensuring compliance with relevant legal requirements, standards, as well as safety and environmental regulations, including fire protection
• Operational management of existing PV systems and assessment of new technical solutions
• Development and enhancement of appropriate maintenance, inspection, and documentation structures
• Technical assessment of potential acquisition objects
• Clear presentation of key technical issues for management and occasionally the board of directors

Your Profile

You have a solid education in construction or technical property management and broad practical experience in building maintenance.

Ideally, you complement this foundation with advanced training in construction, building maintenance, facility management, engineering, or a comparable field.

Particularly important are:

• Extensive practical knowledge in building technology and maintenance
• Experience with maintenance, repairs, renovations, and technical issues in property portfolios
• Confidence in handling relevant regulations, standards, and operator obligations
• Experience in the professional management of external service providers and specialist partners
• Strong assertiveness and negotiation skills
• Clear, constructive communication with various stakeholders
• Commercial thinking and the ability to sensibly balance technical quality, risk, value preservation, and costs An existing network of trades and service companies in the Basel area is an advantage.

What to Expect

You will take on an independent role with scope for creativity and can shape and structure technical maintenance in the long term.

The role combines operational proximity to the properties with professional management responsibility. The focus is on maintenance and further development of the building portfolio. Renovation, construction, and partly acquisition topics complement the area of responsibility.

Workload: 80% Location: Basel and properties in the greater Basel area as well as neighbouring cantons.
