Research Associate for Radon VBS Research Project (80%-100%)

Your tasks:
The University of Applied Sciences and Arts Northwestern Switzerland FHNW is looking for a young, committed individual who wants to conduct research in the field of radon. In an interdisciplinary environment, you will work on current issues of radiation protection and make an important contribution to the further development of measurement and evaluation methods. You will take on demanding tasks in radon research and actively participate in national research collaborations. These include in particular:
- Research activities in the Radon project in cooperation with the Federal Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport (VBS) on the topic of investigating influencing factors on the determination of radon activity concentration and dose calculation for persons exposed to radon
- Participation in further research projects related to radon, e.g. on the spatial distribution of radon
- Preparation and documentation of research results in technical reports as well as scientific journals
- Support of the Radon Competence Centre German-speaking Switzerland in professional and organisational tasks

Your profile:
You bring a solid scientific foundation as well as an interest in applied research in radiation protection:
- Completed studies in engineering or environmental sciences or physics
- Very good written and oral language skills
- High motivation to contribute to radiation protection and to research new technologies
The work in a research laboratory (Spiez) and at a university (Muttenz) combines two exciting worlds. Since the research project is application-oriented, field trials enrich
the work.
