The Family, Children and Youth department is responsible for family and youth matters and foster care. It is responsible for planning, approval, financing, quality assurance and supervision of services in the areas of supplementary childcare as well as children’s and youth homes.
The Foster Families and Adoptions specialist unit is part of the Family, Children and Youth department and is responsible for suitability assessments, supervision and advice for foster parents. In the adoption area, the specialist unit’s tasks include the professional examination of adoption applications as well as supervision and support of adoptive families. Another task is collaboration in the supervision of supplementary childcare and children’s and youth institutions.
Family, Children and Youth
We are looking for a social pedagogue or social worker for the Foster Families and Adoptions specialist unit of the cantonal social office from 1 November 2026 or by arrangement.
- Independently conducting supervisory visits as well as support and advice in ongoing foster care relationships
- Suitability assessment of foster parents
- Contact person for questions regarding foster care for authorities, interested parties and outsiders
- Ensuring quality assurance and continuous development of processes for the Foster Families and Adoptions specialist unit
- Participation in supervision of services in supplementary childcare
- Other varied, interesting and responsible tasks
- Degree in social pedagogy, social work or a related discipline (psychology/educational sciences)
- Experience in the field of family support / child protection or willingness to undertake further training accordingly
- Solution-oriented and networked thinking and acting, interdisciplinary understanding of tasks and ability to work in a team
- Independent, goal-oriented and responsible working style as well as reliability and competence
- Strong communication, conceptual and editorial skills
- Knowledge of cantonal official languages is desirable
- Good IT user skills (especially MS Word)
- Driving licence category B
