Senior Specialist Voltage Control (80-100%) - 1646
Contributing to Switzerland’s electricity supply
Without voltage, no current flows in the transmission network. Ensuring voltage control is therefore a key mission of Swissgrid. This mission begins with network development, so that expansions such as new lines and cables do not cause voltage problems. In operation, Swissgrid collaborates with power plant operators and distribution network operators to mobilise the resources necessary for voltage control.
In this role, you take responsibility for the development of voltage control as well as the identification and implementation of measures to ensure safe and stable system operation. Your main tasks include:
- Adopting a comprehensive view covering network development, system operation and settlement
- Developing the voltage control concept in the transmission network, taking into account stakeholder interests and the regulatory framework
- Coordinating and harmonising topics related to voltage control and network development
- Providing your expertise to projects and stakeholders, and acting as technical client for internal and external mandates and studies
- Identifying and analysing relevant developments and trends, then deriving consequences and necessary measures for Swissgrid
- Representing Swissgrid’s interests with industry experts, authorities and other relevant stakeholders
Here is how you make a difference
For this position, we are looking for someone who enjoys teamwork, works reliably, in a structured and quality-conscious manner, and who is able to contribute to the design of the Swiss transmission network and orchestrate changes. You have the following qualifications:
- A degree from a university or university of applied sciences, possibly complemented by a doctorate, in electrical engineering or a related discipline
- At least five years of professional experience in energy supply or industry, in a specialised, technical or coordination role
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems as well as experience in voltage control, network planning or system operation
- Experience in taking responsibility for a subject, with strong analytical and conceptual skills
- Experience in technical coordination or project management would be an advantage
- Ability to convey your knowledge and experience, to convince management and external partners with solid arguments and to reach common positions
- Very good command of German and good command of English. Knowledge of French is a major asset.
Here is what we offer you
We offer you varied and exciting tasks within a unique company in Switzerland, as well as a modern working environment close to Aarau station. You also benefit from the following advantages:
