Dipl. Nurse HF 80 - 100%The Correctional Services and Reintegration (JuWe) is part of the Directorate of Justice and the Interior of the Canton of Zurich and is responsible for penal and measure enforcement as well as the implementation of various types of detention. For our 1,400 employees from around 40 professions, the successful social reintegration of offenders and the prevention of recidivism are of particular importance.
The Medical Service is one of eight main departments of JuWe and, as a central organisation, is responsible for the medical-somatic basic care of all incarcerated persons in the institutions of the Canton of Zurich. It ensures medical care from initial assessment through treatments to emergency care and supports incarcerated persons in their daily lives with health-related issues.
As part of the Zurich remand prisons (UGZ), the Zurich prison with 135 detention places is the largest remand prison in the Canton of Zurich. It plays a central role in the admission and internal distribution of incarcerated persons.
For our Medical Service, we are looking for a committed and dynamic personality on a fixed-term basis for one year, starting immediately or by arrangement.
This is your area of responsibility
- Accompanying and supporting inmates in daily life as well as in crisis situations
- Initial intervention in medical and psychiatric emergencies
- Organisation and participation in somatic, psychiatric and dental consultations
- Co-designing and developing the department by contributing your professional and social skills
- Point of contact for medical questions and emergencies as well as training staff in health-related matters
- Co-responsibility for material and medication management as well as the management of the pharmacy
- Administrative tasks such as billing and correspondence with external interfaces
- Taking on early shifts from Monday to Friday in the health service to ensure continuous care. Weekend and public holiday duties are shared within the team and occur in a rotation of four to five weeks
What you bring with you
- Completed training as a Dipl. Nurse HF/FH
- Interest in the care and support of incarcerated persons of various origins and nationalities
- Flexibility, personal responsibility and a high level of social competence
- Interest in continuously expanding your knowledge in other areas of health care
- Very good oral and written German skills; any additional language is an advantage
- Your life experience is a valuable asset: a minimum age of 25 years rounds off your profile
- You have a clean record; that is, an impeccable reputation (no entries in the criminal record and debt enforcement register)
