About the job
Your Tasks
The research project "Performing the Archive" examines, using ethnographic-artistic approaches, how claims to memory and reparation in the context of migration, racism, and colonialism are negotiated in Switzerland. The framework and method is the implementation of a multi-day public assembly in 2028, the form of which is developed within the project itself. In a collaborative process with actors from research, art, activism, law, and contemporary witnesses, various memory-political "cases" of post-migrant and post-colonial Switzerland are worked through using workshops, interviews, archive research, and artistic interventions, and strategies of reparative justice are negotiated.
- Design and implementation of an independent, practice-oriented research project (dissertation) within the overall project
- Dramaturgical/curatorial collaboration in the development and implementation of the performative assembly 2028
- Collaboration in collecting fundamentals on discourses, debates, and practices in the relevant research and practice fields
Your Profile
- MA in an artistic/curatorial discipline or in social anthropology, art history, history, archival sciences, or related fields
- Expertise in artistic/curatorial, scientific and/or civil society project work
- Demonstrated research interest in the area of the overall project
- Knowledge of the Swiss context regarding migration, anti-/racism, and colonialism
- Concrete interest in pursuing a doctorate (specific ideas for research projects are welcome but not necessary)
- Flexible and networked thinker who enjoys working independently and in a team
- Very good written and spoken skills in German and English, possibly in French
- Willingness to travel within Switzerland (e.g. workshops, meetings with partners) and internationally (e.g. conferences).
Our Offer
- Opportunity to develop a dissertation within an innovative doctoral model (including doctoral colloquium)
- Salary of CHF 55,000 gross (according to SNSF guidelines)
