The Department of Physics at ETH Zurich is looking to complete the IT Services Group with a motivated reinforcement who has enthusiasm for Linux systems and modern IT infrastructure, who wants to take responsibility in a varied environment and deepen their knowledge.
Job description
- Our team manages and develops the server landscape (Linux, Windows) of the Department of Physics with services such as storage, mail, web, databases, and backup systems.
- We take care of the administration of Linux, Windows, and macOS clients for the department.
- With our helpdesk, we support and advise our researchers and staff on IT issues.
- We work on concepts for stable, scalable systems with high availability and a high degree of automation.
- We are a small, well-coordinated team currently with 8 employees, including an apprentice; every idea and contribution counts with us.
- Open source and digital sovereignty are central to us: we not only rely on them but also actively operate and shape open systems ourselves.
- We value team spirit, good coordination, and open exchange in everyday life.
- Together we live enthusiasm for our tasks and continuously acquire new knowledge.
Profile
- Experience with Linux systems, preferably Debian
- Knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or Perl
- Experience with automation (e.g., Ansible)
- Enjoyment of teamwork and contact with people in an international environment
- Good German and English skills, both spoken and written
- Structured, independent, and careful way of working
