Translator of the Italian language
State Chancellery | 60 % | Chur (possibility to work partly from home)
For the State Chancellery, we are looking for a translator of the Italian language starting from October 1, 2025, or at a date to be agreed upon.
Responsibilities
- Works within the Italian language translation service and is responsible for translating voting materials, texts for consultation procedures, government decrees, decisions of the Grand Council, press releases, and other texts for the media and the official cantonal bulletin, as well as texts from the State Chancellery, departments, and services.
- Additionally, translates updates of the systematic collection of cantonal law into Italian, provides advice to services on linguistic issues, checks print templates, and occasionally collaborates on operations related to elections and votes.
What we expect from you
- To perform these varied tasks in an interesting field, an appropriate education is required (e.g., school for translators or interpreters, university studies).
- Excellent command of the Italian language and good knowledge of the German language are required. Knowledge of other languages is an advantage.
- Experience in the field of translation as well as interest in legal issues are desirable.
- The position also requires good computer skills; knowledge of SDL-Trados and Multiterm products is an advantage.
- The profile is completed with a high aptitude for teamwork, flexibility, the ability to handle large workloads, and initiative.
