Chief Physician at the University Neurorehabilitation Service
The University Neurorehabilitation Service of the CHUV and the Lavigny Institution is seeking a Chief Physician at a workload of 80% to 100% to strengthen its medical team. The starting date is planned for 1 January 2027 or to be agreed.
Context
The Lausanne University Hospital (CHUV) is one of the 5 Swiss university hospitals. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine of the University of Lausanne and EPFL, the CHUV plays a leading role in medical care, medical research, and education.
The Department of Clinical Neurosciences includes the neurosurgery, neurology, neuropsychology and neurorehabilitation services, the Leenaards Memory Centre, the Neuroscience Research Centre, and the Spinal Surgery Service. It offers integrated and personalised care to patients suffering from diseases of the central and peripheral nervous system, from brain to muscle.
Spread over several sites, the Lavigny Institution consists of a neurological hospital providing inpatient and outpatient services, two residential departments for adults with disabilities, one with intellectual disability and the other with physical issues, a specialised school, and a workshop and vocational training sector.
The inter-institutional University Neurorehabilitation Service (SUN) brings together the neurorehabilitation structures of the CHUV and the Lavigny Institution, and belongs to the Department of Clinical Neurosciences of the CHUV. The SUN provides state-of-the-art care for neurological patients, with particular expertise in cognition and behaviour, spasticity, neuromuscular diseases, and neuro-urology.
The SUN covers the entire neurorehabilitation pathway, with an acute neurorehabilitation unit (2 beds for post-coma awakening patients and a mobile team providing early neurorehabilitation care within days of the neurological injury), two post-acute neurorehabilitation hospital units (65 beds between Lavigny Hospital and 10 beds at CHUV), an outpatient and day hospital neurorehabilitation centre at CHUV, as well as research structures allowing SUN patients access to translational research and technologies including in the context of randomised controlled trials.
The SUN maintains close links with the Neurology, Neurosurgery, Spinal Surgery Services, and the Leenaards Memory Centre within the DNC, optimising care for patients requiring neurorehabilitation.
More than 300 people work within the inter-institutional SUN perimeter. The SUN medical team depends on a single Head of Service at CHUV and is composed of 5 senior physicians specialised in neurology and/or physical medicine and rehabilitation, 8 senior registrars and 7 doctors
