The University of Fribourg is a place of education, research, employer and event organiser all in one. Its innovative strength makes it an important engine for the economic and cultural life of the region. As a magnet for students and researchers from all over Switzerland and all parts of the world, the university has shaped the life of the bilingual city of Fribourg since its foundation in 1889.
As the largest theological faculty in Switzerland, the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the University of Fribourg combines academic excellence with a clear ecumenical orientation. This is also reflected in the
denominational diversity of its students. Through its lived bilingualism and international appeal – especially for doctoral candidates – it is a place of intense intercultural dialogue.
