Job Description
The Faculty of Medicine at the University of Geneva benefits from an enriching multicultural dynamic to which it contributes through its influence within the mandates it has set itself: teaching, research and its partnership with the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG).
The READS platform of the Faculty of Medicine provides the scientific community with automated screening equipment and offers technical and methodological support for the development of biological assays and data analysis. It plays a key role in the identification and characterisation of molecules for therapeutic purposes.
As part of its development and to strengthen its technical support to users and actively participate in its scientific projects, the READS Platform is looking for a:
Scientific Assistant 1 at 20%
The main duties of the position will be:
• Develop and adapt experimental protocols for screening projects.
• Train, supervise and advise platform users (researchers, students, clinicians).
• Conduct experiments, ensure technical follow-up and analyse results.
• Participate in the development of new screening methods.
• Ensure instrument maintenance and day-to-day management of the platform (stocks, orders, invoicing).
• Contribute to documentation, scientific communication and participation in conferences.
Required Qualifications and Skills
You hold a Bachelor’s degree in pharmaceutical sciences or an equivalent qualification in the life sciences field and possess the following skills:
• Laboratory experience, ideally in screening, cell culture or bioanalysis.
• Knowledge of automated screening instruments and data processing software.
• Excellent command of IT tools.
• Ability to work in a complex matrix environment and manage priorities.
• High stress resistance, rigor, service orientation and autonomy.
• Essential knowledge (or ability to quickly acquire) of Swiss legislation on animal protection.
• Proficiency in French (working language).
• Good ability to communicate in scientific English, both spoken and written (B2 level desired).
