The parish of St. Karl and the MaiHof – parish of St. Josef have been working together and growing together for a year. Both parishes offer open spaces for neighborhood residents, guests, and tenants and are committed to integration in multicultural neighborhoods. Contemporary and open liturgical forms have a tradition in both places. In the two parishes, a dedicated team of around 35 employees works in the areas of pastoral care, neighborhood and youth work, church music, secretariat, and guest services. In addition, around 350 volunteers are active in various associations, groups, and projects.
We are looking for a parish pastor (60 - 70% workload) starting June 1, 2026, or by arrangement
Optional work in the Migration & Integration team (20%)
What are your tasks?
• You design careful, contemporary, and people-centered liturgies (services with sermons, celebrations in free form, intergenerational celebrations, funerals)
• You attentively engage with people, sensitively perform pastoral care tasks, and carefully accompany groups
• You accompany and design family pastoral offers together with the religious educators
• You collaborate with colleagues on creative projects that radiate into the neighborhood
• If interested, there is the possibility to develop new offers for spiritually interested people
Optional 20% workload:
• Participation in interreligious projects and activities (in cooperation with the Lucerne Forum of Religious Communities)
• Participation in the Migration & Integration department team on further projects
We expect
• completed theology studies with professional introduction by the Diocese of Basel (or equivalent training)
• pastoral professional experience in parish pastoral care, ecumenical and interreligious openness as well as credible and life-related spirituality
• independent working style and ability to work in a team
• creativity, curiosity, and willingness to try new things
