The Position
Digital Biomarker Scientific Solutions Manager
We, the Digital Biomarker (dBM) and Remote Patient Management (RPM) Chapter in Roche Information Solutions, are an integrated team of scientists, technologists, data analysts and operations experts, that leverages mobile technologies like smartphones and wearables to bring the power of sensor measures to patients everywhere: in clinical drug trials and clinical care.
We drive research, workflows and analytics for Digital Biomarkers and Remote patient management
in Roche Information Solutions. Together with our partners, we invent, design and deliver solution capabilities, products and services for better clinical research and improved healthcare outcomes.
We co-create innovative digital remote monitoring concepts for sensitive and meaningful drug development endpoints, implement them in technology solutions, develop health related outcome measures with the data, seek community- and regulatory acceptance of corresponding endpoints and offer them to Biopharma companies and research institutes for use in clinical trials.
We are establishing the scientific foundations for disease monitoring and screening solutions in clinical practice and enable patients and healthcare providers to leverage the power of sensor data for better outcomes in the management of neurological disease, diabetes and others.
Here’s what we’re looking for
Are you passionate about leveraging digital health technology (DHT) to revolutionize healthcare? At Roche, we are seeking a dedicated Digital Biomarker Scientific Solutions Manager to join our Digital Biomarker (dBM) and Remote Patient Management (RPM) Chapter. This pivotal role will drive the scientific product vision and implementation of our innovative digital biomarker solutions for Neurology, ensuring we meet the evolving needs of our BioPharma customers and their clinical trials.
You will lead any required scientific Research & Development and drive acceptance of your existing sensor-based outcome measures together with the global scientific community. You will validate and expand your scientific disease assessment suites based on deep customer insights. Externally, you will act as an influential scientific thought leader in the network of academia, industry, the patient community and regulators. Internally at Roche, you will lead cross-functional squads to develop and execute on the scientific product vision. As such, you will closely work with experts in the dBM & RPM chapter, cross-functional stakeholders across Roche Diagnostics and Pharma Global & Affiliate organizations.
Your responsibilities

Collaborate with the Business Product Manager for Chronic Remote Care Management to leverage scientific data insights and customer feedback to discover, develop and scale a product that is desirable, feasible and viable.

Together with the Business Product Manager for Chronic Remote Care Management, develop and cultivate networks with key opinion leaders for Neuroscience as well as with key stakeholders within the company.

Partner with a broad stakeholder community of patients, care givers, physician and other experts to create scientific digital health solutions

Act as scientific product owner for a set of digital biomarker solutions for Roche and external customers with needs in areas of Disease understanding / Drug portfolio decision-making (phase I-II) / Regulatory treatment approval (phase III-IV) / Clinical trial participant selection / Clinical care

Oversee end-to-end scientific product research & development and the scientific roadmap

Scientifically lead large interdisciplinary project teams that identify, design, develop and implement the scientific digital biomarker solutions to address the unmet measurement needs

Drive the drug development tool regulatory strategy for digital endpoint endorsement and qualification

Drive scientific community acceptance of digital measures and maintain a strong network of collaborators spanning industry and academia

Develop scientific core messages for product marketing

Represent RIS scientifically in pre-sales conversations on Remote Patient Management and Digital Biomarker products

Plan, initiate and co-author high-profile scientific publications and posters and represent Roche at relevant high-profile conferences

Establish yourself as a respected scientific digital biomarker expert and advocate in the research and development community at Roche and externally through cross-industry task forces, communicating results at conferences and in peer-reviewed publications.

Drive the scientific foundations of clinical use scenarios based on sensor-measurements to improve outcomes for patients as well as the efficiency of healthcare delivery
Who you are
-
University degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) in Life Sciences or related field with a minimum of 10 years related experience in the pharmaceutical and digital health industry

Track record of writing compelling publications in high impact, peer reviewed journals

Proven experience with senior stakeholder management and external collaborations
-
Deep scientific product management experience in a large Pharma or Medtech company
-
Deep experience in the area of sensor data and digital biomarker development
-
Provable experience leading in matrix setup, recognized for embracing new ways of leading and working, with strengths in coaching and fostering a collaborative environment

Transparent communicator and able to apply effective empowering leadership

Previous clinical experience in chronic disease management and Neuroscience (especially Parkinson’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis)
Should you have these additional nice-to-have skills, you are the ideal team member we are searching for:

Hands-on work with sensor or other high frequency/complex time series data, including feature engineering

Experience with developing digital biomarkers, digital clinical outcomes and digital endpoints

FDA/EMA regulatory interactions or regulatory consortias regarding clinical drug development and novel drug development endpoints

Deep experience with software project ownership, and especially with functional requirement models like use case and user story development, and requirement gathering

Experience with engineering hardware for remote patient monitoring and sensor data collection
